Plug-ins for Protege 4.0 and 4.1 Alpha

Today, we released two versions of the Protégé plug-in for Pellet that include the new Pellet 2.1; one plug-in for Protégé 4.0, and one plug-in for Protégé 4.1 Alpha. The plug-in for Protege 4.1 exposes incremental classifier of Pellet for updating classification results faster as you edit your ontology in Protégé.

Both plug-ins are available via the auto-update feature of Protégé. Therefore all the users of the previous version of the plug-in for Protégé 4.0 should receive the update automatically. The plugin can also be installed manually. The detailed instructions are available here.

The future versions of Protégé 4.1 plugin will use the newly released persistence capability of Pellet 2.1 incremental reasoner, which should provide significant time savings for large ontologies. (It will require to do the classification only once, and then during subsequent starts of Protégé, the classifier will only load the information precomputed earlier.)
